We were the 4th owner and sold it to a gentleman from Reading who used it for one track day but due to lack of spare time traded it back in with us for a more usable BMW M3. The 3rd owner was the mature Northamptonshire gentleman that we purchased it from, the 2nd owner was his wife and the 1st owner was Barclays Bank whom he purchased it from after having it as his company car. | This is a very highly developed Mk2 Golf GTI 16v track day car with much of the work performed by companies that work mainly on proper competition cars such as VW Racing, BBT exhausts, Custom Cages and parts from Quaife, Eibach, Leda, Sparco, OZ, Toyo, EBC, Willans, Neuspeed, OMP. It also has an AmD modified engine from that days when they were the experts in Mk2 tuning with the founder of AmD, Geoff Everett performing the dyno runs along with his then apprentice, Nathan Sammons who now works for APS in Brackley. Most of the work is listed in the August 2008 VW Driver magazine feature of which there are scans below but the highlights are AmD gas flowed head (approx 170-180bhp), Leda adjustable suspension, Quaife ATB diff, VW Racing crownwheel/pinion to lower final drive ratio, race spec roll cage with spreader plates, original seat runners removed and seats mounted with roll cage tubing, BBT custom stainless exhaust, collectable Votex steering wheel.Supplied on 4 white OZ Superturismo 7x15 alloy wheels with very lightly used 195 50 15 Toyo R888s | ||||||||
| We sold this GTI in 2008 for £4750 under 1000 miles ago (200 of those miles would have been from our premises and back) and since then it's had a new clutch, had a rear strut brace fitted, done 1 track day and been stripped out to make it go even faster though even more can be done such as swapping the disconnected electric window motors for manual winders. Everyone who knows about race preparation and sees this car comments on how sorted it is and how good value it is when considering the work needed to turn a standard GTI into one like this. And with any good Mk2 16v fetching at least half the asking price of this one these days it's even better value now than it was in 2008. It should be noted that while road legal, it really isn't suitable for road use as the suspension is very hard. | ||||||||
